A space for calm and care in Heidelberg, Melbourne
Welcome
I’m so glad you’ve found your way here…
You might be curious about Chinese Medicine, or perhaps you’ve tried other approaches that didn’t quite get to the heart of things. I offer a quiet, thoughtful space where you are listened to and cared for. With time to slow down.
I love this medicine of old wisdom and quiet care.
What is Chinese medicine, and why choose it?
Chinese medicine is a complete system of healing that sees the body as a whole—interconnected, intelligent, and always seeking balance. It doesn’t just treat symptoms, but gently works with the root of imbalance to support lasting change.
People choose Chinese medicine because it meets them where they are—with respect, with curiosity, and with treatments that honour both the physical and emotional landscape of health. It’s a quiet, powerful way of returning to yourself.
What to expect
When you visit the clinic, we’ll start by talking about your concerns. There are a few different ways we make a Chinese Medicine diagnosis. You can expect some interesting questions! Then I will feel your pulse, look at your tongue, and create a treatment plan, which we’ll go over together before starting.
Your first visit will take up to 90 minutes, and follow-up visits are usually around an hour, depending on what we’re working on that day.
In my treatments, I may use acupuncture needles, cups, moxibustion, shiatsu, or gua sha. I may also recommend Chinese herbal medicine for you to take home. You’ll have the opportunity to ask all the questions you need to, so there are no surprises.
Modalities
-
For thousands of years, Chinese medicine and acupuncture have focused on restoring balance by addressing the underlying causes of illness, not just the symptoms. The body’s Qi flows through a complex network of channels, much like a road system. When Qi is blocked by stress, poor nutrition, or injury, illness and pain occur. Acupuncture uses sterilised, single-use ultra-fine needles to restore the free flow of Qi, triggering the body’s natural healing response and promoting overall wellbeing.
-
To complement your treatment, Chinese herbs may be prescribed to support your healing. Each herb has distinct properties, actions, and temperature profiles, combined into formulas to address specific imbalances in your body. These formulas are designed to support your health and unique constitution.
We typically use granulated herbs, but also offer capsules and pills. Your herbal formula may be adjusted as your treatment progresses.
-
A traditional technique used to support the body’s natural healing process. A flame is briefly introduced into a glass cup to create a gentle vacuum. When the cup is placed on the skin, it creates a soothing suction that lifts the skin and underlying tissue. This may help to improve circulation, ease muscle tension, and support the release of heat and toxins from the body. It is often used on the shoulders and upper back, where many people carry tension.
-
Moxibustion treatment involves the use of moxa (dried mugwort herb), which is burnt to create heat which is used on or near acupuncture points. It can be beneficial for pain, particularly chronic pain, as well as cold conditions in chinese medicine pathology. For clients who may not tolerate needles, moxa can form part of an alternative treatment to acupuncture, however I use moxa in some form in most of my treatments due to it’s nourishing, nurturing quality and ability to support healing.
-
A healing technique that involves scraping a smooth, rounded tool (usually a Chinese soup spoon) over the skin to promote circulation and release tension. It’s commonly used to relieve muscle pain, reduce inflammation, and stimulate the flow of qi. Gua Sha is especially effective for areas of stagnation - such as the shoulders, neck, and back—where tension and tightness build up.
The gentle scraping motion can help improve blood flow, reduce soreness and leave you feeling relaxed. It’s a great addition to acupuncture treatments or can be used on its own to support overall wellbeing.
-
Shiatsu is a hands-on Japanese therapeutic technique that works along the same energy pathways (channels) and points used in acupuncture—but instead of needles, it uses the hands, fingers, forearms, and sometimes even the feet to balance Qi, improve circulation, and release tension.
I often incorporate shiatsu at the beginning of treatments, depending on each client’s needs. It’s also a gentle and effective therapy for children, offering support in a way that feels grounding, nurturing, and safe.

In Chinese medicine, food and lifestyle are seen as essential parts of treatment. What you eat, how you move through your day, your sleep, and even how you relate to stress—all of these shape your internal landscape and influence the flow of Qi.
As part of your treatment, I may offer gentle guidance around seasonal eating, supportive foods for your constitution, and daily habits that help maintain balance and promote healing. These recommendations are always tailored to your individual pattern and current state of health.
The small, consistent things can create lasting change. This guidance is offered gently, with care, and always in support of your unique healing journey.
What I treat
In Chinese Medicine, the practitioner focuses on balancing and nourishing the individual’s qi (pronounced “chee”), which is the life force flowing through the body via pathways we call channels or meridians. Qi which is strong and balanced supports health and well-being and when stuck, deficient or out of balance may contribute to pain or ill health. This holistic approach makes it effective for a wide range of conditions. No two treatments are the same, and even individuals with the same condition may require different approaches, as each person’s needs are unique.
My areas of clinical focus are informed by my interests, ongoing learning, and experience.
Women’s health
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine may support women’s health at every life stage-from menstrual issues such as irregularities, pain, endometriosis, and PCOS, to the transitions of perimenopause, menopause, and into older age.
Pain relief
Acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha and moxibustion may offer relief for all types of pain—from chronic conditions and musculoskeletal discomfort to headaches, migraines, and digestive pain.
Digestive health
Chinese Medicine may support digestive health by addressing the root cause of imbalance. Whether it’s bloating, reflux, IBS, or sluggish digestion, treatments like acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion and dietary guidance can help restore comfort and improve long-term digestive function.
General health/Wellness
Chinese Medicine and acupuncture can support the immune, respiratory, nervous, and digestive systems to enhance overall wellness, and may also assist with skin conditions.
Children and teens can benefit from Chinese Medicine. There are always needle-free treatment options available if necessary.
Mental health
The Chinese Medicine approach to mental health recognises the deep connection between mind and body. Acupuncture and herbal medicine, along with lifestyle support practices, aim to assist individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, symptoms of depression, or emotional imbalance, and to encourage a sense of calm and overall wellbeing.
